Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is preparing a New Local Plan. This issues and options consultation document sets out 12 overarching issues that face Southend in the future along with possible options for addressing these.

There will be a series of consultations that gives everyone the opportunity to express their views on what the new local plan should say about the future development of Southend. Once completed the local plan will identify land for housing, jobs, local services and supporting infrastructure to meet the needs of the Borough, and set out planning policies to manage new development for the next 20 years.
